Nanopunk refers to an emerging genre of speculative science fiction (sci-fi). It describes the world where the use of biotechnologies are limited, so only nanites and nanotechnologies are widely used. Nanopunk usually deals with a low-life yet technologically advanced character dealing with the effects that nanotechnology has had on our future.
Nanopunk Science Fiction is an emerging sub-genre closely related to Cyberpunk. So much in fact, that the only real difference is the technology it focuses on. Whereas Cyberpunk is all about computer technology, Nanopunk features microscopic machinery, AKA nanotechnology. The nanotechnology is well integrated with life and has both benefits and drawbacks.
